APTOS lifting principle

Aging skin leads to weakened tissue, reduced facial fat and weakening of the hypodermis. In affected areas, this appears externally as sagging skin (ptosis). This is manifested in the cheeks, around the eyes, eyebrows, towards the ears and on the neck, giving the face an aged appearance. In the past, the only solution to this problem was a surgical facelift. Today, clients have a much less invasive method available to them, which can lift, shape and firm sagging tissue around the face and neck.

Frequently Asked Questions

This is a modern method which postpones the necessity for a surgical facelift. The method known as APTOS (or “golden thread”) simply tightens sagging skin on the face with just a few injections. APTOS is an absorbable threat with hooks designed for lifting and tightening skin, and has been used since 1996. The threads are made of polylactic acid and polycaprolactone, and there is now thread available made of hyaluronic acid, which has excellent hydrating effects. In this treatment, the surgeon uses the special thread to tighten and lift various parts of the face tissue. The treatment is undertaken using specially shaped long needles for applying the thread. Thus there is no trace of any excision or scar on the face. This is one of its many benefits compared to the standard invasive facelift procedures. Aptos fibres also have other effects – they unify skin colour and structure and improve its hydration.

This type of procedure is most often used to correct central parts of the face in order to smooth out nasolabial folds, lift mouth corners and strengthen lower jaw contours. The benefit of this technique is that the surgery takes a short time and rapid recovery.

The treatment takes around 45 minutes, and recovery time is roughly 7 days.
